What do you know about Kilmarnock shoe making ?

We have received a request from Gordon Rogers to publicise this event- he is researching the Kilmarnock shoemaking history as part of the development for a sculpture that will be sited in the town. He is keen to gather as much insight, experience or expertise about Saxone in particular but also the history of shoe and leather work in Ayrshire more broadly. As well as inviting attendance to the event (there's also a small display about the project in the Dick Institute just now) anyone with interesting information can leave comments on the website
